Sweden for the UN Human Rights Council
Sweden is a candidate for the UN Human Rights
Council for the period 2013-2015.
Promoting and respecting human rights is a core
commitment and a central priority for the Swedish
Government. Sweden has therefore decided to
present its candidature for membership of the UN
Human Rights Council. The candidature has full
support of the Nordic countries and the elections
will take place in the UN General Assembly in
2012.
As a member of the Council, Sweden would look
forward to working with all Members of the United
Nations, in the spirit of cooperation and genuine
dialogue.
