Sammanfattning
The Swedish Government has designated 2000 as the Year of the Baltic Countries. During the autumn, nine Swedish counties and regions will undertake various commercial, cultural and information initiatives in twin counties in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
A further aim of the Year of the Baltic Countries is to support Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania in their preparations for EU membership through initiatives to spread information about the EU in these countries and by helping to increase knowledge of the Baltic countries in other EU member states.
