EC regulations, including those listed to the right, are directly applicable and are legally binding in Sweden. Infringements can result in fines or imprisonment for a maximum of four years under Section 8 of the Act on Certain International Sanctions (1996:95). The arms embargo is regulated in Swedish law through the Military Equipment Act (SFS 1992:1300).
