Fredrik Reinfeldt receives Lula da Silva for EU-Brazil Summit
On Tuesday 6 October, Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, together with the President of the Commission José Manuel Barroso, will host an EU summit with Brazil's President Lula da Silva. Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt and Minister for the Environment Andreas Carlgren will also participate in the meeting. After the EU summit, Fredrik Reinfeldt and Lula da Silva will also meet for bilateral talks.

The summit is expected to focus primarily on climate change and the global financial and economic crisis. The agenda will also cover regional and other international issues and challenges. This will be the third EU-Brazil Summit within the framework of the strategic partnership established at the first summit in Lisbon in July 2007.

In the afternoon, Sweden and Brazil will meet for bilateral talks. The talks are expected to address current issues of common interest and involve action on the environment and climate change. Other ministers will also be participating in these talks.
