Cecilia Malmström steps down as Minister for EU Affairs

Today, Friday 22 January, Cecilia Malmström asked to be relieved from her post as minister.

Ms Malmström will take up her new post as Sweden's EU Commissioner for Home Affairs once the European Parliament has approved the entire incoming European Commission. This is expected to take place on 9 February.
