Birgitta Ohlsson appointed new Minister for EU Affairs
Birgitta Ohlsson, Member of the Riksdag for the Liberal Party, has today been appointed Minister for EU Affairs.
"The EU is our most important foreign policy tool and must be a strong voice for freedom in the world. In order to secure welfare on our continent in the long term, we must compete with world-class expertise. The work of the EU towards an international climate agreement must continue," says Ms Ohlsson.
"I am pleased that Birgitta Ohlsson has accepted the position of Minister for EU Affairs. Birgitta Ohlsson has many years of foreign policy experience and is extremely committed to European issues," says Minister for Education Jan Björklund.
Amelie von Zweigbergk, former State Secretary at the Ministry for Education and Research, will be State Secretary to Ms Ohlsson.
Facts about Birgitta Ohlsson
Birgitta Ohlsson has been a Member of the Riksdag for the Liberal Party since 2002 and is a member of the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign Affairs.
Ms Ohlsson was born in 1975, grew up outside Linköping and studied political science at Stockholm University. She is married and lives in Stockholm.
