Press conference on violent Islamist extremism

On Wednesday 15 December, Director-General of the Swedish Security Service Anders Danielsson will present a report entitled "Violent Islamist Extremism in Sweden" to the minister responsible for democracy issues, Birgitta Ohlsson. The occasion will be marked with a press conference presenting the report.

The press conference will be attended by Ms Ohlsson, Mr Danielsson and Malena Rembe, chief analyst at the Swedish Security Services Counter-Terrorism Unit.

In February this year, the Government instructed the Swedish Security Service to prepare a report on violent Islamist extremism in Sweden. The report describes:
1. violent Islamist extremism in Sweden;
2. the radicalisation process that can be identified in violent Islamist environments in Sweden; and
3. the tools and strategies that can be used to counteract radicalisation.
