Penal Law
The Ministry of Justice is responsible for legislation pertaining to penal law and public order and safety. It is also responsible for legislative matters relating to preliminary investigations, coercive measures, etc.
Its work largely consists of changing penal legislation to keep pace with developments in society at large. The Ministry also takes part in the legislative work on the subject being undertaken within the Nordic countries, the EU, the Council of Europe and the United Nations.
