Inquiry appointed on pension-related age limits
The Inquiry is to draft proposals and present alternative strategies on how to deal with pension-related age limits. It is also to present proposals for measures concerning the working environment or other areas that could improve the chances of prolonging working life.
The background to the Inquiry's remit is an increasing life expectancy and an imminent increase in the number of older people in relation to the number of those actively working.
On 30 March 2011, the Working Group on Pensions adopted a directive to commission an inquiry to analyse pension-related age limits and obstacles to a longer working life. On 14 April 2011, the Government confirmed the Working Group's decisions concerning terms of reference and chair of the Inquiry on pension-related age limits.
The Inquiry is to submit an interim report on the analysis no later than 15 April 2012 and its final report no later than 1 April 2013.

The Working Group on Pensions is to consult on issues concerning pension reform and, if necessary, take initiatives to amend the pension system. There is no deadline for the groups work; the remit lasts for as long as the pension agreement is in place.
The pension agreement is between several parties, which is why there is a formal group with members from each party.
The purpose of the group is to safeguard the agreement and supervise the pension reform and its fundamental principles.
Members of the group: Ulf Kristersson (Moderate Party), Tomas Eneroth (Social Democratic Party), Kurt Kvarnström (Social Democratic Party), Lars-Arne Staxäng (Moderate Party), Ulf Nilsson (Liberal Party), Solveig Zander (Centre Party) and Lars Gustafsson (Christian Democrats). The group is chaired by Ulf Kristersson, Minister for Social Security (Moderate Party).
