Västra Götaland still biggest in exports - Västerbotten grows most
New figures show that of Sweden's counties, Västra Götaland is still the county that exports the most. However, new figures that the Ministry for Foreign Affairs has analysed based on statistics from Statistics Sweden show that Västerbotten is the county that increased its goods exports the most in 2011.
"Several counties performed very well in terms of exports in 2011. Västerbotten had the strongest growth, growing an impressive 40 per cent. This is very positive and good for jobs. The counties of Örebro, Blekinge, Jönköping and Norrbotten also made significant progress," says Minister for Trade Ewa Björling.
In 2011, Sweden's three largest export counties were Västra Götaland, Stockholm and Skåne, yet goods exports from these counties grew less than average. Värmland county, which saw its goods exports drop by an estimated seven per cent, had the most lacklustre development.
