Reminder on the new location for diplomatic parking spaces outside the MFA

The Protocol Department wishes to remind of the fact that it is no longer permitted to park at the parking spaces at Fredsgatan 6-8 that was previously reserved for diplomats when visiting the Ministry for Foreign Affairs on short-term visits. For the location of the new parking spaces that may be used instead outside the Opera click the link below.

Information upon ending your posting in Sweden

The Protocol Department would like to draw the attention of staff nearing the end of your posting at an embassy, career consulate or international organisation in Sweden to the Department's memorandum with practical advice and instructions ahead of your transfer to your new posting. The memorandum is available on the Diplomatic Portal in the Diplomatic Guide section for Arrival and Departure.

Another successful trainee mingle at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Once is nice, but twice might make a tradition. That, at least, was part of the incentive to have another trainee mingle at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 9th of May.

Swedish Integration Policy presented to Ambassadors

On the 10th of May, some 60 foreign diplomats based in Stockholm were invited to the Ministry of Employment to listen to a presentation of Sweden's integration policy by the Minister of Integration, Mr Erik Ullenhag. The Minister pointed out that immigrants should not be considered as a weak group. Instead, their qualifications ought to be utilized as extensively as possible.

New information on the employment of local staff

Chapter 3 A 1 of the Diplomatic Guide on employment of local staff by diplomatic missions and career consular posts in Sweden has been updated. The new chapter now also includes information on the Swedish Employment (Co-Determination in the Workplace) Act.

New ambassadors

Four new ambassadors, from Chile, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria and Lesotho presented their letters of credence today to His Majesty the King.

New section for Diplomatic events on the Diplomatic Portal

A new section containing invitations to diplomatic events organized by the MFA, Protocol Department is now available on the Diplomatic Portal. - Under the subheading Previous events you find reports on these events. This means that the full news articles covering diplomatic events as of now will be published on Diplomatic events only, - not under the subsection Articles prot.

New information about transport in Sweden

A new chapter on transport has now been added to the Diplomatic Guide under the heading Communications. The new chapter 23 provides guidance on alternative means of conveyance (without the use of a car) within greater Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö as well as tips on some useful websites when travelling throughout Sweden.

Ambassadors were charmed by Norrköping and Linköping

The Protocol Department of the MFA in cooperation with the County Administrative Board of Östergötland organized a trip for foreign ambassadors to Norrköping and Linköping on 12-13 April. The programme included a concert featuring the Norrköping symphony orchestra which celebrates its 100th anniversary and high-tech experiences such as Norrköping's Visualization Center C.
