Visit by EU Commissioner

Androulla Vassiliou, EU Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, visited the Ministry of Education and Research on Monday. The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) and the proposal for a new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport - Erasmus for All - were discussed during the Commissioner's meeting with Minister for Education Jan Björklund.

A new national research institute will be established in 2013 - Sweden Science for Life Laboratory. The Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation and AstraZeneca announced today that they will contribute considerable financial support to the project.

Delegation from the French Parliament paid Nyamko Sabuni a visit

On Thursday 20 October 2011, Deputy Prime Minister Jan Björklund met Deputy President of South Africa Kgalema Motlanthe in Stockholm. The meeting took place within the framework of the seventh Binational Commission (BNC). The purpose of the BNC is to deepen and broaden bilateral relations between Sweden and South Africa.
