International sports events
As of 1 January 2010, the Government has allocated resources to the Swedish Sports Confederation to create a national competence centre for sports events, in which knowledge will be collected on methods and procedures for attracting international sports events to Sweden.

The centre is to assist sports organisations, primarily ahead of and during their candidatures for holding international events in Sweden. The task of the sports movement is to design in more detail the structure that can best assist sports organisations that intend to apply for arranging major international sports events.
The knowledge and experience available in sports and other organisations, municipalities, government agencies and companies alike should be used to create better conditions for succeeding in attracting more international sports events to Sweden.
