Statement by Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt on the engagement of Crown Princess Victoria and Mr Daniel Westling
On Sunday 22 February 2009, at 18.00 at Drottningholm Palace, I was informed by H.M. The King of his consent to the marriage between Crown Princess Victoria and Mr Daniel Westling.
H.M. The King has requested by letter the consent of the Government.
The Government has decided today, 24 February 2009, at 12.00, in accordance with Article 5 of the Act of Succession, to give its consent.
The future Queen of Sweden, Crown Princess Victoria, will marry Mr Daniel Westling. The wedding will be held during the early summer of 2010.
A woman of royal blood will at last have her man of the people.
